Take Care When Handling Live Lobsters

Lobsters have very sharpe strong claws. The claws have been disabled using strong elastic bands. DO NOT REMOVE THE ELASTIC BANDS FROM THE CLAWS until after the lobster has been cooked.

Caring for Live Lobsters

Cook the live lobster as soon after delivery as possible and within 24 hours if kept in a refridgerator. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to cook. Do not remove the elastic bands from the claws prior to cooking. Please note the following:

1) Do not take the lobsters out of the carton to play with them. You may open the carton to inspect them, but we recommend you do not remove them from the carton until ready to cook.

2) Add some wet newspaper to the carton. This will help to keep the lobsters moist. DO NOT STORE LOBSTERS IN FRESH WATER! Lobsters cannot live in fresh water.

3) Keep the lobster(s) refrigerated and in the carton. The lobsters must be kept cool. If their body temperature rises significantly, the lobsters will perish. If upon inspection one of the lobsters seems listless or lethargic, in general lobsters are still healthy and should be fine to prepare. When a healthy lobster is cooked the tail will curl under the body and is generally safe to eat.
